Paryioush Ganji
Born in Tabriz, Iran, in 1945; based in Tehran.
Studied at the Behzad Art Academy and the Girls’ School of Fine Arts in Tehran.
Trained under renowned Persian miniature master Mahmoud Farshchian.
Continued studies in London at Saint Martin’s School of Art, Sir John Cass School of Art, and Chelsea College of Arts.
Further artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Worked as a textile designer in Germany before returning to Iran.
Taught at Alzahra University, University of Tehran, and Islamic Azad University.
Conducted research in Japan on the influence of Persian motifs on Japanese textiles and visual culture.
Awarded Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun in 2015 for promoting cultural exchange between Iran and Japan.

About The Artist

Pariyoush Ganji (b. 1945) is one of Iran’s most respected contemporary painters, recognized for her unique synthesis of Persian artistic traditions, modern abstraction, and East Asian aesthetics. Over a career spanning more than five decades, she has developed a highly distinctive visual language centered on light, windows, roses, water, and spiritual contemplation. Her paintings bridge cultural traditions while exploring themes of hope, memory, and transcendence, making her an important figure in contemporary Iranian art and a significant voice in cross-cultural artistic dialogue.
